Queen City Prep strives to connect with the student body spiritually, emotionally, socially, and intellectually. The High School is a community of a diverse student body offering 9th through 11th grades for the 2010-11 academic year.
Queen City Prep is a Christian school where the spiritual culture is created through venues of daily Bible classes and monthly chapels. The High School curriculum is designed to challenge the student to his/her maximum potential by focusing on core courses – English, Math, Science, History, Foreign Language, and Bible. In addition the High School has enhanced its college preparatory curriculum with the implementation of the Career and Technical Internships Program ("CTI"), where students spend part of their school week working in a business, professional or civic environment. Students may also take courses to become licensed or certified in certain trade or career programs.
The CTI program gives Queen City Prep students an opportunity to work closely with an adult mentor who shares their interests. Students can learn more about the things they care most about while doing meaningful work with real-world consequences. Teachers work closely with mentors to ensure that the internship develops skills from the student’s learning plan.
CTI projects engage students because the internships are based on student interest and passions. CTI projects also show students the importance of multiple areas of study; since the projects require them to make use of several Queen City Prep Learning skills.
The students of the High School are encouraged to participate in our fine arts and athletic programs. We will offer an array of art classes, along with art shows, choir tours, band, and drama. Athletically, we currently offer a Post-Graduate Boys Basketball Team and will offer more athletic programs as more students are enrolled. Fine arts and athletics offer opportunities for students to continue to build harmonious relationships with their peers.
Grades 9-12 feature a college preparatory program. Students take four subjects per semester and attend four subjects per day. We also offer a full honors track and courses in Advanced Placement. The Academic day also allows students time to meet with their teachers should they have questions or difficulties in a particular subject area.
To earn a Queen City Prep Diploma, a student must complete 28 credits:
